Gangs use tattoos as a method of communication and identification. By displaying a tattoo, gang members carry the image of their gang. Gangs use tattoos extensively, usually displayed visible on arms, hands, or shoulders. However, tattoos can appear any where on the body. They may be as small as a homemade dot in the web of a hand, or large enough to cover an entire back or stomach.
