Gangs in North Carolina

The North Carolina Criminal Justice Analysis Center of the Governor's Crime Commission has been a forerunner in researching the perceptions of gangs and the impact on citizens and communities in North Carolina. The following statewide surveys into the presence of gangs in our state's communities were initiated by the North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission. The authors of the 1999 publications were awarded the 2000 Fredrick Milton Thrasher Award for outstanding research by the National Gang Crime Research Center.
